What is Day of Atonement: Yom Kippur
Yom Kippur or the Day of atonement is considered the holiest day of the year, called "Yom ha-Kadosh". On the Hebrew calendar, Erev Yom Kippur begins at nightfall on Tishri (September or October) 9 and continues 25 hours through the next day until nightfall.
